With the New York Fashion Week starting today, I realized that I haven’t told you about the Marbella Fashion Week 2012 yet. So, here is my report from this magnificent show.
Marbella Fashion Week 2012 was a grand and luxurious event (just like I thought it would be), which took place at the end of August. During four days Marbella’s fashionistas as well as all people, who love fashion and enjoy great shows, had amazing opportunity to indulge in both.
Out of all events that happened during these four days, I only attended the main one, which happened on the 24th of August at Nikki Beach. I was kindly invited to this event by MissPenguinPR director Danielle Bigaignon.
Born from the ongoing success of its UK equivalent Essex Fashion Week, Marbella Fashion Week was the first in its history. I haven’t been to Fashion Week in Essex, but I bet that the venue could not possibly compare to the spectacular Nikki Beach, where you can enjoy the show under the stars, with the sound of the crashing waves coming from the sea nearby.
As the founder of both events, Adam Ryan, puts it: “Life is nothing but a catwalk.” And then you see all those beautiful ladies in amazing outfits, you couldn’t agree more.
ClaireaBella
At the beginning of the show, stunning models were showing beach jute bags with cute images painted on them. I particularly loved the one with Marbella written on it, unfortunately I was not able to take a great picture of tht particular bag. But here are some other cute bags I loved.
I think that Claire Barratt, the founder of the brand, have a really great idea with these adorable bags.
Maya Peters
I have never heard of Maya Peters before, so I didn’t know what to expect. And then the girls where coming up on the catwalk in the most amazing and luxurious beach caftans I have ever seen. I was mesmerized. Girls, remember my selection of luxurious beach caftans “9 Colorful and Glam Beach Cover-Ups“? Well, let me just say that the ones by Maya Peters are much more posh and would definitely have a place in my selection next year.
Judas Sinned
As I am not an expert in men’s fashion, I am afraid I won’t be able to comment on the Judas Sinned collection. But what I can say, is that models were super handsome. Maybe the form fitting clothes made them look even more attractive than they already were.
Entertainment
During the brake a wonderful singer, whose name I didn’t catch, was singing in a beautiful voice, but my eyes were fixated on her dress. I still can’t decide whether I liked it or not. I think it was a little bit too sparkly even as an outfit for a performer.
Carrie Roslyn
All designs by Carrie Roslyn were bright, colorful and sexy. I think these dresses could make the great summer outfit for confident and optimistic young girls. As to me, I feel like a little bit old or prude for such flashy dresses.
The Only Way Is Bikinis
I absolutely loved most of the “The Only Way Is Bikinis” swimwear. My most favorite was the black one with the fringe top. This bikini was something I might even consider of buying for the next summer season.
Georgeous Boutique
The next show was by the Georgeous Boutique, which is an online retailer specialising in affordable clothing, footwear and accessories. There were a lot of interesting designs, but I really loved the white cut-out dress. I think it is cute and would be perfect outfit for some of Marbella’s summer parties.
Dorcas Hammond
And the last show was by Dorcas Hammond, a fashion designer of high quality tailor made evening and daywear. Owner and designer of Dorcas Fashion Designs, Dorcas Hammond holds amongst others, the renowned and prestigious ‘Golden Needle’ Award.
I always loved the idea of sheer fabric for evening dresses and was amazed by the way how Dorcas Hammond seamlessly combined it in her designs. I can picture myself wearing such dresses, just need to lose some weight :)
So, Marbella Fashion Week 2012 was a great success and amazing show. I am really looking forward to see what the next year would bring, but so far I am really glad that I had a chance to witness the beginning of a “new fashion story”.
Me with Miss Gibraltar 2012
After the fashion show all guests and visitors with VIP tickets were treated to the after party at Nikki Beach club, organized by Sintillate.
I had an absolutely wonderful time and if you missed this event this year, I suggest you book your vacation in Marbella for the next, as it will be even better and grander!
So, rich girls, what do you think? Do you go to fashion shows often? What was the best you visited so far? Share your experience and thoughts in the comments below.
