Marbella attracts a lot of tourists every year and they all want to have the best experience possible. There is no doubt, that your impression with the city starts with the hotel you are staying. That’s why I have decided to collect the best luxury hotels in Marbella to make it easier for people to make a good choice, but also to help them fall in love with Marbella. So, here is my list of Top 5 Best Luxury Hotels In Marbella Spain by the local:
1. Marbella Club Hotel Golf Resort & Spa, Marbella
First on my list is one of the oldest and the most expensive hotels in Marbella – Marbella Club Hotel. Primarily built in 1954 by Prince Alfonso of Hohenlohe-Langenburg as a small motel later was extensively renovated and enlarged from the mid-1980s through 2000. A lot can be said about this legendary hotel where celebrities and aristocrats mingle, but I suggest you better watch this video filmed to celebrate hotel’s 60th Anniversary last year.
2. Hotel Puente Romano, Marbella
After the success of the Marbella Club, Prince Alfonso of Hohenlohe-Langenburg decided to build the most exclusive apartment complex. And so the Hotel Puente Romano was opened officially in 1979 and since then became the glamorous meeting point for the international jet set. There are a lot of advantages of staying in Puente Romano: great location (hotel is located at the heart of Marbella’s Golden Mile), eight different magnificent restaurants where you can enjoy dishes from around the world (one of which is BiBo by Dani Garcia who has two Michelin Stars), famous Suite night club, the best tennis club on the coast, luscious tropical gardens, three outdoor swimming pools, Six Senses Spa and kid’s club. All this you can enjoy without even leaving the huge hotel’s territory.
Interesting fact: the heart of the Puente Romano hotel is the authentic Roman Bridge, from which it takes its name. This ancient bridge, dating back to the 1st century, is a vestige of the Roman road linking Rome and Cadiz, the renowned Vía Augusta.
My friends stayed in Puente Romano with two kids and they enjoyed their stay immensely.
3. Gran Melia Don Pepe, Marbella
I have a deep love for Melia brand ever since my first stay five years ago in Melia Alicante, Alicante. It was such a magnificent experience, that whenever I travel around Spain my first choice is always a hotel by Melia. Needless to say I was always satisfied with the stay.
Gran Melia Don Pepe, Marbella is a deluxe hotel, so everything is top-notch. Located in the heart of the Paseo Marítimo Marbella’s beautiful seafront promenade, Gran Melia Don Pepe has 194 rooms with fantastic sea views, spectacular Presidential, Möet Chandon and Roche Bobois Suites and the Red Level. There are also 2 outdoor pools, Yhi Spa, T-Bone Grill by Matías Gorrotxategi and a lot of other fine dining options such as Whisky Lounge and the Oysters and Caviar Bar.
I come to Gran Melia Don Pepe at least once a month for the glamorous networking event organised by Theresa Bernabe, called “Welcome to Marbella”. It is a great opportunity to meet new interesting people in a wonderful surroundings. The other reason I love coming to this hotel is my most favourite place in the whole Marbella – Gran Cafe Capuccino! The best luxurious lounge place in town! I always make sure that my guests go to have cocktails or at least drink coffee with a carrot cake there. Everyone loves it.
Among celebrities that love staying in Gran Melia Don Pepe is Eva Longoria, who comes every year to host her charity Annual Global Gift Gala, as well as Sean Connery, Julio Iglesias, Prince, Alain Delon, H.R.H Prince Edward just to name a few.
4. Gran Hotel Guadalpin Banus, Marbella
The main thing I love about Gran Hotel Guadalpin Banus is it’s unbeatable location. Located on the beachfront and is only 15 minutes walk away from the centre of Puerto Banus with it’s world famous marina, luxurious shopping, restaurants, cafes and nightclubs. I think this hotel will be amazing for single people or couples without kids, since they could enjoy all the benefits of the location within walking distance to the port and shopping.
The beach in front of the hotel is great, because they have a lot of water activities available as well as my favourite “chiringuito” restaurant Mistral Beach.
5. Hotel Villa Padierna Palace, Benahavis
Another my favourite ultra luxurious hotel on the Costa del Sol is Villa Padierna Hotel. This hotel would be higher on my list, if it would be on the beach. Located within 20 minutes drive from the centre of Marbella towards Estepona. Although this hotel is not on the beach, every room has magnificent views towards mountains and world renowned golf courses. When Michelle Obama visited Costa del Sol in 2010, she stayed in this hotel. The Hotel Villa Padierna Palace, Benahavis offers 130 exquisitely appointed guest rooms, suites and villas, 3 beautifully landscaped 18-hole golf courses, with over 2000 m2 Thermae spa, exciting cuisine and plenty of meeting space. If you are looking for opulence in a secluded location where you can access golf course right from the hotel lobby, then Villa Padierna Palace is the best hotel for you.
These are the best luxury hotels in Marbella. Every hotel has it’s advantages, so when you’ll decide to come to Marbella just pick the one from this list and I am sure you will be happy.
Have you ever been to Marbella before? Which hotel have you stayed before? Can you suggest any great luxury hotels to add to the list? Please leave your comments below.
