Vera Wang is no doubt the first name that comes to mind when you think about a sophisticated and exquisite wedding dress. At least, this is the designer I would turn to first thing I got engagement ring on my finger. Who is your first-choice designer?
Summer is the official wedding season all over the world. Not sure about Australia, though :) I think it’s the perfect time to get married – the sun is shining, it’s warm and green all around, everyone is happy, beautiful and tanned. Love is in the air! And although I have no intentions of getting married this summer, I still love to flip through wedding dresses every season. What can be more beautiful than a luxurious white wedding gown?
Vera Wang – Wedding Dress Designer For Celebrities
The most significant dress you will wear in your life is, of course, your wedding dress! And you need to choose it carefully, with the help of your mother and close friends. I have a feeling though, that after you visit Vera Wang’s bridal salon you will look no further. It doesn’t matter how many weddings you will have in your life, each one will be special and you will need a perfect and unique wedding dress. Hopefully, you will only need a dress for just the one and only wedding with the man of your dreams.
Vera Wang started her luxury salon in 1990 at the esteemed Carlyle Hotel on New York City’s Madison Avenue, showcasing her innovative bridal collection. Later, Vera Wang has opened her first west coast store with a beautiful salon on Melrose Avenue.
As it states on Vera Wang official website:
Vera Wang collections are positioned at the highest end of the luxury market. Driven by artistic, modern and luxurious design and style, couture-like quality and a high level of customer service, Vera Wang’s collections hold impeccable customer appeal.
Vera is a super star of wedding dresses and a lot of celebrities have called upon her for their big day.
2009 Vera Wang brides included Ivanka Trump, Khloe Kardashian, Alyssa Milano, Ali Larter, Kara DioGuardi and Natasha Bedingfield.
In year’s past Wang created wedding dresses for Jennifer Aniston, Victoria Beckham, Avril Lavigne, Jennifer Garner, Jeri Ryan, Heidi Klum, Uma Thurman, Mariah Carey, Jennifer Lopez (to Marc Anthony), Kate Beckinsale, Jessica Simpson, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Leann Rimes, Kate Hudson, Debra Messing, Niki Taylor, Holly Hunter, Karenna Gore, Sophia Bush, Elin Nordegren and many more.
My all time favourites from the wedding gowns made by Vera Wang for celebrities is the classic Ivanka Trump’s dress:

If you have decided you want to have Vera Wang’s dress on during your Big Day, prepare to spend thousands of dollars. Vera Wang Luxe Collection starts at $6,000, with some dresses costing as much as $12,000 and more. However, you can also find cheaper dresses range from $2000 to $7000. But we are not going to look this way, right?! :)
Vera Wang Wedding Dresses are available at her flagship bridal salons and department stores such as Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Barney’s. Check out VeraWang.com for a store locator and more information.
It was hard for me to pick My favorite Top 7 Vera Wang wedding dresses, all of them are so beautiful and different. You can see for yourself on VeraWang.com.
I always prefer white fairy princess dresses for wedding, that’s why my picks are as follows:
Although I still made an exception, because I loved this Deidre dress a lot:
Vera Wang loves to experiment and sometimes even shock people with her bold dresses and color choices. For Fall 2012 collection she prepared black and nude wedding dresses and for Spring 2013 collection – crimson and dahlia gowns. All the dresses by Vera Wang are exceptionally beautiful, but as I have already mentioned before, I still prefer white or ivory gowns. So, I was very happy to see that for Fall 2013 Vera Wang made fairy-tale white creations. My most favorite of the are the following wedding gowns (photo credit):
Update: In 2010 one more rich and famous girl tied the knot in Vera Wang wedding dress – Chelsea Clinton.

She was wearing a spectacularly embellished strapless Vera Wang wedding gown with full princess skirt, tiara-like silver and rhinestone belt, a tied-bow back and a waist-length veil. A lot of pictures from the wedding could be found here.
As well as Chelsea Clinton, the other celebrity rich girls preferred to tie the knot in Vera Wang wedding dresses, such as LaLa Vasquez, Hilary Duff and Alicia Keys.
Let’s see what exquisite celebrity brides the 2011 year will bring us?!
Update: In 2011 Kim Kardashian rocked not only one, but 3 different wedding dresses by Vera Wang during her short lived marriage to Kris Humphries. My most favorite out of three gowns is the one Kim was wearing to the reception. But of course all three gowns were gorgeous!
Victoria’s secret model, Lily Aldridge, was getting married in Vera Wang dress in 2011 as well. The former “Alias” star Michael Vartan’s bride, Lauren Skaar, also walked down the aisle in a magnificent wedding dress by Vera Wang.
Update: So far in 2012 there were a few celebrity brides who wore Vera Wang wedding dress. First, Lady Antebellum’s Hillary Scott married Chad Tyrrell on January 7. She was wearing a beautiful strapless wedding dress by Vera Wang. And Ashley Biden, the daughter of Vice President Joe Biden, was wearing a magnificent wedding gown by Vera Wang when she married Dr. Howard Krein.

Update: The first celebrity bride to tie the knot in Vera Wang wedding dress in 2013 was figure-skater Michelle Kwan. About 250 wedding guests had a chance to admire two-time Olympic medalist Michelle Kwan in a beautiful ivory Vera Wang wedding gown, complete with layers of silk organza and lace applique.
Other celebrity brides who decided to wear Vera Wang dress for their wedding in 2013 included Chrissy Teigen and Shenae Grimes. Shenae married Josh Beech in a black Vera Wang gown. Such a bold move on her part, don’t you think?
Update 2014: In 2014 the celebrity bride which decided to wear not just one but two gowns by Vera Wang on her fairytale wedding to Eric Trump is Lara Yunaska. Photo credit
Actually, I really enjoyed writing about wedding dresses by Vera Wang, I think she is a genius. But I like more traditional dresses by her. When I checked the latest collections like Spring or Fall of 2016, there is not a one wedding dress design that I love. I am still a very traditional girl, so black or see-through short dresses are not my thing. Also the latest celebrity who wore a wedding dress by Vera is Lara Yunaska in 2014, at least I couldn’t find any more recent celebrity wedding information. What does it mean? I am updating this article every year and for a while there were nothing new to add to this list. I want cool celebrities to tie the knot in 2016 wearing Vera Wang dress, please! Who could that be? Let’s fantasise. Maybe Mariah Carey will choose Vera’s dress again for her wedding to businessman James Packer? Fingers crossed!
What do you think about Vera Wang wedding dresses? Would you choose her to design a dress for the most special occasion in your life? Or maybe you have your own favorite wedding dress designer? Just leave a comment below and share your opinion! I would love to hear from you!
