Goya Awards, (los Premios Goya), is the Spain’s equivalent of the Oscars. It is the main national annual film event in Spain. This year Goya Awards 2016 celebrated it’s 30th edition and was held on the 6th of February in Madrid Marriott Auditorium Hotel.

This prestigious award is delivered in 28 categories to reward the best Spanish films, actors and actresses. My knowledge of Spanish language is not perfect, so I can’t watch the movies yet. Because of that I also don’t know a lot of Spanish actors and actresses which is a shame, as all of them are gorgeous. But at least I can enjoy the beautiful women in stunning dresses on the red carpet, right?

I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of tastefully dressed celebrities! I think that a lot of American actresses should check out what their Spanish colleagues are wearing and take notes. I was happy to find out about new evening dress designers which I never heard of before. After watching their creations on the Goya Awards 2016 red carpet and a bit of research, I fell completely in love. There is a chance that Elie Saab and Zuhair Murad will be pushed down on my favourites list.

Goya Awards 2016 Best Red Carpet Looks

1. Penelope Cruz in Versace

I absolutely love Penelope Cruz and I guess she is the only Spanish actress that I know. She looks absolutely stunning in this Versace dress.

2. Clara Lago in Georges Chakra

I haven’t heard about Georges Chakra before, but this dark blue dress on Clara Lago looks absolutely amazing! What do you think, girls? By the way, Clara Lago is a young actress from Madrid, who is famous for her role as Amaia in a popular Spanish comedy “Ocho Apellidos Vascos“. There was a voting among the readers of Hola.com (Spanish version of Hello Magazine) for the most stylish celebrity on the Goya Awards 2016 red carpet and Clara received the most votes – 12 812! Turns out not only I think that she looks flawless.

3. Anna Castillo in Elisabetta Franchi

Elisabetta Franchi is another unknown designer to me and I just love her creations. I feel so excited to discover new designers, although maybe only for me they are new.

4. Marta Hazas in Carolina Herrera NY

Carolina Herrera is the most famous and beloved designer in Spain. Whenever it is the sale season, the longest queue is in Carolina Herrera shops. I love her feminine silhouettes.

5. Leticia Dolera in Dolores Promesas

I love this 20s style dress by Dolores Promesas, also unknown Spanish designer to me up until this moment. This dress could be an amazing option for the Great Gatsby themed party, don’t you agree?

6. Nieves Alvarez in Georges Chakra

Nieves Alvarez is an absolute Spanish beauty! And I love her fierce dress by Georges Chakra.

7. Juana Acosta in Isabel Basaldua

Isabel Basaldua is the creative designer of – Ba Sal DĂșa – the famous Spanish brand (unknown to me before). The brand was created in 1956 in Madrid. They specialise in beautiful evening and wedding dresses.

8. Maria Adanez in Uel Camilo

Although this bright yellow deep v-neck dress is a bit of a risky choice, but I like it. Again, made by a completely new designer for me – Uel Camilo. Well, to my excuse, this brand only exists from 2010. So, of course, there was a slim chance that I could know about this designer.

9. Inma Cuesta in Teresa Helbig

And finally my absolutely favourite “new found” designer is Teresa Helbig. I love her evening dresses and casual clothes. She creates everything that I would wear without a doubt. Classy and feminine style, just what I love.
