Guest Post: How I Spent My Weekend in London

When I decided that I wanted to spend my summer break in London, I knew that I needed to have a plan. I did my research and was able to come up with a long list of things that I would do on my weekend in London. Most people usually have different ideas as to how London is and I must admit that it was completely different compared to what I initially thought. There were a lot of things that stood out but a few things really made my stay completely worth while.

• Shopping

As a woman looking to have fun in London, I knew that I had to go shopping. There are plenty of shopping malls in London and it felt like a shopping haven for me. The Westfield Shopping Centre and Piccadilly were by far my favourite place for vintage shopping and I spent hours there trying to find various things for my friends and family. Shopping is every tourist’s main thing to think about when out in a different city and so this was where I spent most of my time. However, the nice thing about my shopping trip was that it led me to want to learn about the art galleries that I saw posters of.

• Art galleries

I looked around and tried to find the best art galleries in the area. Since I had my digital camera, I knew that I was going to take some great pictures in London. Though I loved to take pictures, I felt like I wanted to see what others had to offer. I looked for a really good art gallery and I ended up finding The Royal Academy of Arts. This was actually my favourite part of the trip and I was so excited to see what other artists were able to create. I was always a big fan of paintings and so this was right up my alley of interests.

• Nightlife

Since I’m single, I knew that I needed to see how the nightlife was in London. This was one of the most entertaining nights of my life as I went from bar to bar and ended up at a trendy bar in Camden. This bar was great fun and the people were surprisingly very interesting to talk to. A few guys tried to hit on me, it was a liberating experience going out by myself, when I went back to my hotel room I was completely exhausted.

• Getting Treatment Done

My last day in London was focused on simply me and how I wanted to get some treatment done. I got some dermal filler treatment done at this clinic on Harley Street and this was surprisingly really easy to go through. This was my first time getting any treatment done but I was told that this was the place to go. I am really thankful that I was led to this clinic and the service was by far the best that I had during my role trip and the results were just as good. This clinic on Harley Street definitely made my trip worth while.

I came home with hundreds of pictures and memories that I will never forget. Though I was only able to stay for a weekend, I realized that there is nothing better than being able to spend a weekend in a different city. This was arguably one of the most expensive trips that I have ever been on but I would admit that it was completely worth it. I highly recommend that people learn something from my trip and enjoy what I experienced in London.

5 Forgotten or Little Known Seas with Exclusive Views

The vast majority of us love an unspoilt vista, looking out to sea and taking in a glorious sunrise or a beautiful sunset, but where in the world can you go to experience your own almost exclusive private moment in paradise? Anywhere where there is a stunning sea based location normally attracts a crowd of tourists but there are 5 seas that we can tell you about that have not been spoilt by tourism and you may not have actually heard of before.

1 – Inland Sea – Japan

The Inland Sea as it is known or to give it its full name the Seto Inland Sea, is a slightly curious title as the sea is not on or inland but is actually a body of water that separates the three main islands of Japan which are Honshu, Shikoku and Kyushu. This beautiful location consists of over 700 islands, most of which are uninhabited, and it offers a chance to see a rural, largely unspoilt Japan rarely seen by tourists as it is a well kept secret enjoyed by the Japanese people themselves.

2 – Coral Sea – Australia & Papua New Guinea

Situated off the Northeast coast of Australia it is bounded by the East Coast of Queensland which includes the Great Barrier Reef and at its Southern extremity it reaches the coastline of the Solomon Islands and Papua New Guinea. The area is mainly popular with Scuba Divers as it offers some of the best dive sites anywhere in the World and enjoys the warm climate all year round. Yachting, spear fishing, kayaking, surfing and just sun bathing are all on offer in the largely unspoilt Coral Sea.

3 – White Sea – Russia

The White Sea is found off the North West coast of Russia and grazes the Arctic Circle. It is an area that is not visited by large numbers of tourists. You will not get suntan here as temperatures in the summer months barely reach 10C but the positive aspect of this is you will enjoy quiet walks along some beautiful beaches on the Southern Shore.

4 – Myrtoan Sea – Greece

The Myrtoan Sea is often unmarked on modern maps and this ancient and mysterious sea is actually a part of the Aegean Sea. It was originally named by the Ancients and is situated between a group of around 220 Islands known as the Cyclades and a large peninsula in Southern Greece known as the Peloponnese. This is an area largely untouched by tourism and can be reached by ferry from the mainland.

5 – Sea of Azov – Ukraine & Russia

Situated in between the Ukraine and Russia, the Sea of Azov is in fact the shallowest sea in the World. It is officially recognised as part of the Black Sea, and is connected by the narrow Strait of Kerch. It is an area that is a popular among Russians and Ukrainians in the hot summer months when the water is warmer. But as a tourist location it is far less developed than the Crimea South Shore, so you are likely to find yourself a deserted beach where you can enjoy your own private space, far from the madding crowd.

10 Celebrities who Meditate and Why They Do It

Once thought to be new age nonsense, meditation has gained in popularity in recent years. Several scientific studies have reaffirmed many of meditation’s purported benefits. Meditation can not only relax the mind and body, but it has proven to have many other benefits on them as well. This is probably why many Hollywood celebrities are touting the effectiveness of this ancient relaxation method. Read on to learn about the benefits of meditation, the celebrities that swear by it, and how it has helped them.

Meditation has been proven to improve the mind’s ability to focus and the speed at which it does so. Studies using magnetic resonance imaging have shown that meditation can result in higher levels of alpha brain waves, which are responsible for mental focus. Beyond focus, meditation has been shown to reduce depression and anxiety, reduce aggression, improve memory, and increase will power. And these are just the effects it has on the mind. Meditation benefits the body by lowering blood pressure, reducing oxygen usage, slowing the heart rate, relaxing the muscles, and reducing the effects of chronic pain. With all these benefits, it is no wonder that meditation is growing in popularity.

There are a few different types of meditation. The type that is most popular with celebrities is called Transcendental Meditation, or TM. While the other types most often involve some concentration or control of the mind or contemplation to keep the mind active in some way, TM allows the mind to simply, naturally, and effortlessly transcend thinking and to experience a deep state of restfully alert consciousness. This procedure practiced 20 minutes twice each day while sitting comfortably with the eyes closed.

So now that you know what meditation is and what it can do, it is time to learn which celebrities use it and why.

Clint Eastwood

The 81 year old actor is the picture of health, energy, and strength for his age. It turns out that one of his tricks is TM. And far from being guilty of jumping on the bandwagon, he has been practicing it for a good forty years. Eastwood sees meditation as an effective self-help remedy.

Gwyneth Paltrow

Paltrow has been quoted as saying: “My New Year’s resolution is to learn how to meditate. It has always sounded like something I should do, but I do not know how to. My friends who do it say it is really freakin’ brilliant. They say you can’t know the peace/awareness/contentment until you do it.” Let’s hope she has made good on her resolution and discovered how freakin’ brilliant meditation can be.

Angelina Jolie

With all those kids running around, it is not hard to see where Jolie could benefit from a little meditation. Jolie recently said: “I find meditation in sitting on the floor with the kids coloring for an hour, or going on the trampoline.”

Hugh Jackman

Even Wolverine needs some relaxation sometimes. Jackman has stated that meditation helped to change his life and deal with his obsessive compulsions. If it works for a member of the X-men, it can work for a mere mortal like you or I.

where chakras are situated and how to open them during meditation

Adrien Brody

Brody says that he uses meditation techniques to prepare for upcoming roles. For the movie Predator 2, he says he meditated in a hut in the jungle. I will take his word for it, as you will not find me relaxing in a jungle with predators about.

Eva Mendes

Mendes says that meditation helps her get centered so she can deal with life’s up and downs. It sure seems to be working at maintaining her looks.

Howard Stern

Take it from the King of all Media; Stern credits TM with helping him quit smoking. He says that he immediately quit smoking after taking up TM over three decades ago.

Russell Brand

Brand says he meditates for twenty minutes in the morning and twenty minutes in the early evening. He claims it is a big part of his life. The actor says that it settles his mind and helps him wind down after a long day.

Russell Simmons

Simmons, the hip-hop artist and entrepreneur, says meditation gives him energy, strength, health, wisdom, and access to inner stillness, silence, and bliss. He also feels that it gives him a greater connection to himself and the universe. Not bad for less than an hour a day!

Tiger Woods

Being a Buddhist, Woods is no stranger to meditation. However the top tier athlete admits that he had gotten away from his meditation practice during his recent transgressions. So this one serves as more of a warning about straying from meditation than a story of its benefits.

It is quite clear that meditation is more than just a passing Hollywood fad. With some celebrities practicing meditation for decades, it looks like it is here to stay. So give yourself the celebrity treatment and take up meditation today.

Luxury Gifts Moms Will Treasure This Mother’s Day

When I think luxury, I think champagne wishes and caviar dreams (Hello, eighties! Robin Leach, anyone?). That’s really not the case anymore though, is it? I feel like luxury – living a luxurious lifestyle – is so much more attainable these days. Sure, nice things still come at a price, but the perfect quality/value ratio is well within reach.

Just in time for Mother’s Day, I’ve put together a list of some of my mom’s favorite, affordable luxury brands. Here’s hoping your mom also loves great fashion, food and entertainment, so select away, and you’re guaranteed to find a true treasure for your mom this Mother’s Day!

Michael Kors

Take your pick! This American designer does it all – clothing, handbags, shoes, accessories, perfume and a home line, to boot. The Michael Kors look is described as a “luxurious reboot of classic sportswear,” and is readily available at retailing giants Macy’s, Lord & Taylor and Nordstrom. With a huge celebrity fan base, Michael Kors is a true powerhouse fashion brand. Stylish and chic, just like mom!

Papyrus

Modern, relevant and elegant design is what Papyrus does best, offering an ever-expanding array of products, including greeting cards, gift wrap, stationery, note cards and journals. With retail locations nationwide, and a selection of Papyrus products available in Target stores, these unique cards are just as nice to give, as they are to receive. Forget texting, my mom loves to write letters, and I love to receive them. They’re something I’ll cherish always.

Gemesis

A full line of colorless and fancy yellow lab-grown diamonds, all of which possess the same identical chemical, optical and physical characteristics as the highest-quality mined diamonds? Yes, please. By recreating the natural process, Gemesis is able to offer consumers individually created diamonds of top quality and value (attractive when compared to mined diamonds with the same characteristics). Grown in a safe, controlled environment using only modest amounts of energy, these diamonds are fully disclosed as lab-created, alleviating any concerns related to “conflict” or “blood” diamonds. The only difficult decision here is – What will mom like best? Gemesis offers beautifully designed rings, simple studs, elaborate earrings and a wide range of pendant styles. Choices, choices!

Melitta Coffee

Melitta dedicates itself to providing the ultimate coffee experience with its premium coffees, coffee filters and coffee makers, bringing European indulgence to life. In fact, the history of coffee would not be complete – or equipped with coffee as good – without the contributions of Melitta Bentz. She’s the innovative mom who invented the first-ever two-part filter system for coffee, and more than a century later, her pour-over method is still the hottest trend in coffee. Melitta has a variety of pour-over products for quick, fresh tasting coffee any time of day in just three easy steps: put filter and coffee over mug, pour hot water and let great tasting coffee drip into the mug. So, looking for the perfect gift for mom this year? How about the gift of time! The only question left is, “Hazelnut or vanilla?”

Kindle Fire

Dad’s not the only one who loves his gadgets! My mom’s pretty savvy, but who knew the Kindle Fire would so quickly become her new constant companion? Small, lightweight and let’s face it, cute (her words), the Kindle Fire is perfect for use at home or for travel. Endless streaming movies and TV shows, e-books, games and music are literally, right at her fingertips – great features at nearly half the price of similar tablets (cough…Apple…cough). And, not that she needs it, but mom’s cool quotient is definitely upped with this in her hands – no doubt!

Monaco – Exquisite Place For Party In Style

By

The tiny principality of Monaco sits at the very heart of the French Riviera and pretty much no place on earth has the same concentration of wealth and sophistication that is squeezed into this stunning location.

The elite of Europe are drawn to Monaco either as a tax exile or simply to have quality fun time whenever they come to visit. The peak times for visiting are of course the Monaco Grand Prix at the end of May and as a base for the nearby Cannes Film Festival.

The seemingly endless line of luxury yachts in the main harbour are a testament to the wealth of some of the inhabitants and visitors but also provide a stunning setting and atmosphere for a party girl to have fun.

Where to stay

If the budget will stretch then the Fairmont Monte Carlo is probably one of the finest hotels on the island but if you even have to mention the word budget then perhaps you may be looking elsewhere to stay. There are plenty of other stunning hotels to consider such as Le Meridien Beach Plaza, Port Palace and the Hotel Metropole. Just remember that if you are planning to visit for the Grand Prix, a few extra noughts might need to be added to the price.

monaco monte carlo port hercules le port hercule

Where to eat

Monaco is greatly favoured by gastronomic excellence and offers a host of starred restaurants such as the Joel Robuchon, Le Louis XV and Le Vistamar to name a few of the Michelin starred venues. Brasserie Cuisine is a great way to get a feel of the local culture and there are some great choices such as Avenue 31, Bilig Cafe and Brasserie Cafe De Paris offering good food at what could be considered reasonable prices for the area.

What to Do

Monaco is almost without question the international capital of luxury and when you visit the exclusive shopping area known as Carré d’Or you will find the expected array of fine boutiques and well known designer brands offering haute couture , and jewellery in particular, but don’t forget to also wander through the lanes of the old town and also take in the Metropole, Lumieres and Fontvielle shopping areas. There is of course the Casino to keep you occupied during the evening and even if you don’t like to lose money at the tables it is a good place to people watch!

monaco monte carlo casino by night casino de monte carlo

Some other fun things to do during your stay would be to take a look around the Palais Du Prince which is of course the Royal Palace which has 15 rooms open to the public. During the summer months of July and August there is a Ferrari City Tour which takes you on a 20 minute tour of the City as a passenger in a flame red Ferrari (What else?) or there is the option of driving the car yourself with an instructor as the passenger!

On a more cultural note, you should consider a visit to the Musée Océanographique which is set in a stunning location at the cliff edge and has something for everyone.

If that is all too much activity for you, why not just hang around the harbour and enjoy the almost continuous party atmosphere in Monaco, the perfect playground not just for the rich and famous, but having those attributes would certainly help during your stay!

What You Need to Know When Buying a Diamond Ring

By

A diamond ring is arguably one of the most expensive purchases an individual will make in their lifetime.

The general rule of thumb when buying a diamond ring is that it should not cost more than two months of your annual salary, although many people far exceed this when faced with a truly spectacular diamond.

When buying a diamond it is important to consider the “Four C’s”.

Carat

The carat of a diamond is essentially how much the gemstone weighs, with one carat being the same as 200 milligrams of weight and is often abbreviated to ‘ct’. Small diamonds are measured in points and there are 100 points in each carat. Similarly sized gems may weigh significantly different amounts due to the density or the carat of the diamond.

Most distinguished wedding rings have a carat weight of above 0.5, although for smaller hands a smaller weight of 0.3 to 0.4 carats can proportionally look perfect in the right setting.

Cut

The cut of a diamond is essential to the sparkle on any wedding ring. The cut of a diamond refers to the proportions of the gemstone in its uniformity and the depth and width of the stone. To create that magical sparkle diamonds need to be cut in a certain way. Too shallow a cut and the light is deflected towards the bottom of the stone, whilst too deep a cut leaves the light escaping out of the sides of the rock.

There are a number of different types of cuts you can have for your diamond. ‘Pear shaped’ diamonds are popular and are often used in diamond earrings. The hybrid cut combines an oval shape with a marquise edge producing an almost teardrop like shape. ‘Princess cut’ diamonds are also popular and are almost square in shape and are designed to produce maximum scintillation from a square cut. There are numerous other cuts including round, radiant-cut, marquise, oval, trillion and heart shaped diamonds available on the market.

Colour

The most popular diamonds are completely colourless (white diamonds), though some coloured diamonds can be even more sought after. There are colour treatments, which can enhance and alter the colour of any diamonds.

Yellow is one of the most common colours found in diamonds and most gemstones will exude a hue of yellow. Yellow diamonds are therefore the most affordable and compliment white diamonds and white gold settings brilliantly. Red and blue diamonds are the most valuable coloured diamonds in the world and are mined in the southern hemisphere.

diamond engagement ring emerald cut clear set of 5 diamonds

Clarity

The clarity simply refers to the flaws of a given diamond. Almost all diamonds have some manner of flaw, such as blemishes on the surface of the stone or microscopic chips and cracks.

The International Diamond Council rates diamonds from loupe clean, which means they’re basically flawless, to I3, which means the flaws can be seen with the naked eye. ‘Eye clean’ diamonds are visually flawless to the naked eye, although under a magnification flaws can be seen.

Anyone purchasing a genuine diamond should receive certification, which highlights the characteristics of the diamond including its ‘Four C’s’, but when it come to the band itself, it is essential to find one that matches the worth of the diamond.

diamond engagement ring with round cut diamond

Bands are made from a range of precious and semi-precious metals, including white gold, yellow gold or rose gold as well as platinum and palladium, whilst the setting within a diamond ring is also quite important.

A solitaire diamond will stand out if put in a prong setting for example, but if more than one diamond has been bought, the buyer might want a common prong, which can hold a few diamonds at a time. There’s also cluster settings, pave settings and bezel settings.

Anyone considering buying any type of diamond jewellery should find a reputable and legitimate company that sells diamonds and can track their origins. The company should be registered and also certified by the European Gemmological Laboratory or the International Diamond Council.

There are certainly many things to consider when buying any type of diamond jewellery, and using the four C’s along with some good advice from a reputable jeweller could help you find the diamond ring of your dreams.

Mastering The Scent Of Love

Smell is clearly an important thing within any relationship. Personal hygiene is the first key to a good scent but beyond this obvious factor there is a huge range and variety of smells to be experienced. There are perfumes, pheromones, and a vast range of scents to choose from. Which of these scents you choose can have a significant effect on your love life so it is an important area of your relationship to consider.

Why is scent so powerful?

There are three key reasons why scents are important within a relationship:

● The olfactory gland (which is responsible for smell) is one of the most effective triggers for potent memories. Consider how your mother’s cooking provokes memories of your childhood and it will be clear how this works. Smell is a powerful force so having the right, consistent smell will connect your scent with good memories.

● We react to the smell of our partners in inexplicable ways. This actually relates to the way in which we develop as children. We are attached to the scent of our mother from birth and this is why a child is largely happier in its mother’s arms than anywhere else. A similar bond is created with partners at a later age and this particular scent can trigger feelings of closeness and security.

● Attraction is, in evolutionary terms, about the attraction to a partner of good breeding stock. Whilst this is no longer the primary concern of most couples, the elements that we are attracted to in people relates to health, strength, beauty and intelligence. Scent plays a large role in this through pheromones and mental triggers.

Pheromones

Pheromones are natural chemical scents that are produced by the body and which act as signals for sexual behaviour. Although it is usually subconscious, chemical scents play a huge role in the sexual attraction of individuals to one another. Those with incompatible pheromone scents will find it difficult to become comfortable with one another.

It is possible to purchase pheromones which act as a perfume and supposedly attract the opposite sex. This can be effective but it is important to consider that you have your own pheromone scent and that masking it with another could form attractions that will not last.

Perfumes

Perfumes are more readily available and more commonly used than pheromones. A perfume acts more as an additional scent rather than a means of attraction in itself. Certain scents, however, can be incredibly attractive to members of the opposite sex (or the same sex) if they are utilised well. Wearing a scent regularly will connect that particular scent with you and with good memories. This is just one way in which you can begin to strengthen a bond with your partner through the olfactory senses.

Chanel Chance Eau De Parfum Spray 100ml/3.4oz

Using scents

Scents can be used to create connections with happy times by wearing them regularly for dates or by triggering them at regular intervals. The scent of fresh flower delivery, for example, can trigger happy memories whenever it is experienced as long as you build this connection. By creating associations with scents you will begin to forge unbreakable bonds of attraction with your partner.

7 Steps To Make Your Eyes The Center Of Attention

Every woman wants to be just like the heroine in her favorite movies or television show. You know exactly the kind we are talking about. She is the one who wakes up in the morning looking fresh with no under eye dark circles in sight. The sunlight that seeps through the window only emphasizes the fact that her skin looks so smooth and dainty. Her glowing cheeks flushed from the good night’s rest. Her pouting lips look soft and ready for a kiss. Her flowing hair is tousled in such a way that she looks sexy.

In other words, she looks so perfect without any makeup. Perhaps you ask yourself, how come it does not happen to you? You ask yourself why your mornings make your eyes puffier and despite the sleep that you just had, it still looks like you spent the night turning and tossing. Perhaps it is time for you to consider an eye cream for dark circles.

There are a lot of products that cater to under eye dark circles. It is important that you find the one that works best with you. Remember to choose the one that will not cause any irritation to your skin, hypo allergenic, and gentle enough but intensely effective. I personally love Vanishée by Lora Vay.

Vanishée is an eye cream for dark circles that has been found by the AMA Laboratories to be 100 percent effective to all its test subjects. The same study shows that it can remove eye bags, puffiness, and even wrinkles in a span of four to eight weeks.

how to use eye treatment to your advantage

If you find that you are not ready for such product yet, then maybe you can resort to makeup for that fresh, “no makeup” look.

Step 1. Moisturize is key. Keeping your face hydrated keeps it supple and fresh. After allowing the moisturizer to be absorbed by the skin, apply a layer of primer. Primer allows foundation to be spread evenly without any glitch. Foundations make your skin appear smoother and silkier.

Step 2. Apply concealer especially on areas that needs it most. Problems such as under eye dark circles could easily be concealed and corrected on this step. Cover them up by using shades that stay close to your skin tone. Anything lighter or darker than your skin shade will emphasize the problem. Better yet, invest in an eye cream for dark circles so you will no longer have to worry about eye bags.

Step 3. Get your blush on. Flushed cheeks can be faked. Add the color on your cheekbones and witness how a bit of rosiness could change the whole demeanor of your face.

Step 4. Add some mascara. Make your eyes the center of attention by lining up your eyes with a liner and adding a few layers of mascara.

Step 5. Pretty in pink. Pink is always associated with youth. Keep it the youthful look by getting a pink lipstick shade that compliments your skin tone.

Step 6. Add a highlighter at the inner edges of your eyes. You can use light eyeliner or a real highlighter for this. It will give your face a dewy, youthful look.

Step 7. Go out in the world with full confidence and belief that you will turn heads today. And believe me, you will!

Hope these easy-to-follow tips will help you look radiant, youthful and happy, rich girls.

5 Ways To Get Fit In Style And Luxury

By

Hitting the gym is a love hate experience. For some, it’s invigorating and energizing, whilst for others it’s a miserable, grueling slog. If you’re an avid gym bunny, you probably don’t need convincing of the virtues of a workout session. But if you’re not – and just the idea of half an hour on the treadmill is torture – then the chance to play dress up might be just the encouragement you need. Sports clothing hasn’t always been synonymous with high fashion, but thanks to this season’s luxury sportswear trend, that’s rapidly changing. Forward-thinking sports brands like Adidas have teamed up with top fashion houses to create some truly fantastic sports clothing, that we’d be just as happy to wear without the prospect of sport itself.

Feast your eyes the best of the bunch:

1. Run Jacket – Adidas by Stella McCartney. Adidas, the original and best in sportswear, have teamed up with darling of the fashion world Stella McCartney to produce a range that you’ll be so desperate to wear, you’ll actually look forward to hitting the gym. Perfect for shielding you against the chilly weather whilst you’re out running, this Stella McCartney for Adidas jacket will make that cold morning jog a little more enticing.

2. Easy Tennis Dress – Sweaty Betty. The aptly named Sweat Betty has done wonders for gym chic in the last few years and their range of athletic separates are miles ahead in the style stakes. With a collection that caters for yoga, cycling, swimming and Pilates, their Easy Tennis Dress in crisp white and green taps straight into summer’s streamlined sport luxury trend.

3. Health Tracker – Timex. Part watch, part clever step-sensing, calorie-counting super-device. The perfect fitness companion, the Health Tracker monitors and records distance and steps as well as counting how many calories you’ve consumed and burned. You can program it to create seven day fitness diaries and goals, and the sleek design is waterproof to boot.

4. Lunar Eclipse 2 – Nike. Spending money on trainers will never be quite as satisfying as buying a pair of towering heels, but these guarantee very happy feet whilst you’re working up a sweat. Equipped with all the features you’d expect of Nike – enhanced support, stability, grip and comfort included – they’re also uncommonly stylish.

5. Bamboo Twist Front Cardigan – Asquith. From luxury yoga outfitters, Asquith, this cardigan is – like all of their range – practical and indulgent. More elegant than sporty, it’s perfect for layering and will work just as beautifully over jeans at home as it will at the gym.

6 Famous Movie Jewels

Movies are made of the stuff of dreams—including jewelry like rings, necklaces and famous stones. Although movie jewels are props and have no value in themselves, the props become valuable as the movie becomes popular. In some cases, precious metal and stone versions of movie jewels are even made for the general public. Curious about some of these famous jewels? Read on!

1 – The ring from Lord of the Rings

Iconic jewels if there are any in this world, the rings from the classic J.R.R. Tolkien story have popped up everywhere in jewelry stores after the movies came out. Jewelers paid special attention to the engravings inside the ring, as they are otherwise simple polished gold rings. Can you, like Frodo, carry the weight of the One Ring and take it to its final resting place in Mount Doom?

2 – Kryptonite from Superman

Kryptonite isn’t exactly a jewel, but the stone has been set in jewels throughout the history of the character. Kryptonite can do different things to Superman: weaken him or rob him of his powers, change his personality or even hurt him. The amount of kryptonite on Earth changes regularly throughout the history of the comic and movies, providing Superman with more or less challenge to his power.

3 – The Sankara Stones from Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom

Religious stones hold special power in this movie, and our intrepid Indy is out to search for missing stones that have been stolen from their village by an evil Kali cult. The stones contain diamonds and are thought to contain great power when put all together. Indy recovers the stones and brings them back safely to their villages.

4 – The Heart of the Ocean in Titanic

This necklace is probably the most famous piece of jewelry in movie history. Based on the Hope diamond, the Heart of the Ocean plays an important part in the plot of Titanic. Celine Dion wore the best replica at the 1998 Oscars ceremony. René Angelil, her husband, later bought it for 2.2 million dollars at an auction for Princess Diana.

5 – The Pink Panther diamond in The Pink Panther

Very few people know that the Pink Panther is not actually the detective, Jacques Clouseau, but rather the name of the diamond stolen in his first case, called Pink Panther because of its color and an imperfection in the stone that looks like a panther. However, the popularity of the character took over and is now associated with the name, while the diamond itself appears only in half the Pink Panther movies.

6 – The Maltese Falcon in The Maltese Falcon

Another eponymous piece of jewelry, The Maltese Falcon is a movie with Humphrey Bogart as a detective on the trail of thieves who are after an ancient piece of jewelry called, you guessed it, the Maltese Falcon. Legend holds that the Maltese Falcon was sent by the Knights of Malta as their annual tribute to Spain but was lost in a shipwreck.
