How to Keep Your Priceless Jewellery Looking Brand New
By Guest Post
Although most of us never want to sell our Jewellery and would have to come on tough times to do so, looking after it is essential to secure that it remains as brand new irrelevant of resale (if ever). Here are some top tips for looking after your Jewellery.
Storage
It is important to store jewellery properly, whether it is expensive or not, so that it does not get damaged.
Keep chains flat, either lie them down or hang them up. Always leave them done up. This should prevent tangling and scratching.
Keep all jewellery in a dry room, neither excessively hot or cold, to avoid moisture, rust, warping and discolouration.
Keep jewellery out of direct sunlight. Especially opals, pearls and coloured stones, as they may discolour or even crack in extreme temperatures.
Keep jewellery separated. If it is mixed up together it is likely to become damaged. Diamond is an exceptionally hard material and could easily scratch or chip anything else you have in your jewellery box.

Store in either soft cloth pouches, acid free tissue paper or untreated cotton or silk. The jewellery boxes that you purchased the items in are ideal but can be bulky en masse. Get creative! For example get a ribbon to hang somewhere that you can put earrings through, displaying and protecting them at the same time.
Care
Different kinds of jewellery needs different types of care.
Jewellery should be the last thing that you put on, the the first thing you take off to avoid contact with harsh surfaces.
Check your jewellery regularly. Check that the clasps are strong, that links are not worn and that jump rings are not pulled open. If you feel that a piece of jewellery is becoming worn it is advisable to take it to a jeweller to be given professional advice, especially if you wear it frequently.
As jewellery is easily scratched, it is inadvisable to wear it whilst at the gym, playing sport or doing housework. Opals can crack if put into water.
Put on all cosmetics, including perfume and hairspray before you put your jewellery on. Cosmetics can damage stones and cause discolouration.
Wear your jewellery regularly. The continual movement against your body should help to rub off tarnishing.

Cleaning
Clean with mild soap like washing up liquid and warm water. If a piece is particularly tarnished it may help to soak it for a while first. A soft toothbrush or make-up brush is ideal for cleaning. Be aware, particularly with older pieces and ones with delicate settings (like a four claw setting for example) that the dirt may be helping to hold stones in place, so consult a jeweller if you are in any doubt at all.
Threaded jewellery should not be put into water, if it needs cleaning use a slightly moist cloth and make sure that it lies flat and straight to dry as the thread may stretch.
Silver jewellery cloths are great for cleaning most jewellery and are easily available. They will remove tarnishing and return the jewellery to its original lustre.
Tarnishing is caused by humidity, chemicals, oils and oxygen. Sterling silver is alloyed with copper in order to make it stronger; copper tarnishes very easily so it is likely to need regular cleaning.

If something is exceptionally tarnished it may need to go into silver dip. Be warned that this removes a layer of metal from the item, so it is best to do this as few times as possible. After dipping it make sure that all of the dip is washed off, dry it and then rub it with a soft cloth to bring back its shine.
You cannot put all stones into silver dip; the ones to avoid are opals, pearls, amber.
Surprisingly, a lot of people do not know these basic tips, even in a time when a quick web search can bring up the best method to clean any type of metal or stone jewellery.
And finally, handle it with care. It’s expensive and in some cases sentimental!

Do You Enjoy The Game Of Bingo? Some Celebrities Do!
By Guest Post
I am not a gambling kind of person, I don’t believe in playing games to win money, mainly because I hate to lose! I just play for fun and socializing. And the game of bingo is one of my favorite games, which I enjoy playing since I was a little girl. I think my grandmother taught me to play this game, so that I learn how to recognize different numbers fast
Anyhow, since then I hosted a couple of bingo games at my house during cold long winter nights in Latvia, when there is nothing else fun to do. I never played bingo online or went to a special establishment, where they host bingo events and where you actually can win or lose money. So, it was interesting to find out that some celebrities also enjoy playing bingo at home, online or at different clubs. Here is a guest post by Craig about some celebrities, that love playing bingo from time to time. Enjoy! Yours, Rich Girl.
How Does the Game go Again?
For the people who are unsure what bingo is, then, seriously where have you been? No, we are only messing. Bingo is a number game that is based mainly on chance. It began in Italy in the 1500s and gradually spread around Europe. The main idea of the bingo game is that every person in the game has tickets with random numbers on them, a person then uses a bingo machines to pick random numbers which they then call out, you then mark the numbers if you have them and the first person to successfully cover their card with the called numbers yells “BINGO” and he/she wins. You can play this game at home with your friends and family, you can go to a special hall or establishment that runs games of bingo or you can play it online. In any case it is a fun and exciting gambling game.
It is not stereotypical to say that the vast population of bingo players are women, because it is a fact. Men love to play poker, women love to play bingo. Simple as that! With the game of bingo being based mostly on socializing rather than the actually game it can be understood that a regular bingo night at home can go on quite some time, way longer than it would take if no talking was allowed. Sharing a few laughs and some drinks is part of the fun when hosting a game of bingo at home.
Celebrities are just the same as some regular Joes at heart, so why would they wouldn’t do “regular things” just like ourselves? Bingo being one of them. You may be surprised to see your favorite female actresses and celebrity judges enjoying a game of bingo, below are a few guilty celebrities who dabble in the game. I wonder how much their initial ticket prices are when hosting a bingo night?
Catherine Zeta-Jones
Catherine Zeta-Jones hosts regular bingo parties at her home. Catherine’s father won £100,000 at bingo when she was just in her early teens; it looks like the excitement of the game passed from father to daughter. It is said that Catherine loves to host a bingo party at Christmas for her close friends and family. I wonder who she invites? She has also appeared as a guest bingo caller at charity bingo to raise money.

Paris Hilton
It is not just Catherine Zeta-Jones who has appeared at charity bingo events, but also Courtney Cox, Daryl Hannah and Paris Hilton.

Denise Van Outen
Denise Van Outen is so into bingo that she once tried to get a few of her radio co-stars to go to her local bingo club to have a few games with her. Imagine if you saw her at your local bingo club, I bet you would be so star struck that you would miss the called numbers. The famous television presenter has been spotted on a few occasions at her local Essex Bingo club.

Gary Barlow
The X Factor Judge, Gary Barlow and his wife, Dawn decided to celebrate their 10th wedding anniversary at London’s Mandarin Oriental hotel with a bingo night back in January 2010. Some females who made the bingo bash were: Kimberley Walsh, Cheryl Cole, Fearne Cotton, Denise Van Outon, Alesha Dixon and Lulu.
Katie Price
As you will beware, there are literally 100s of online bingo sites on the web and it is extremely hard to choose one, if you gonna decide to play this game online. Here is a fun fact not many people know: Katie Price used to be the celebrity face of the online bingo site, called Foxy Bingo. Katie once said that she loves to play online bingo.
So who knows, maybe next time when you will be playing bingo game online, there will be some kind of celebrity playing in the same bingo room as yourself. “Katie Price has just won £25.50” may one day pop-up on your screen, but we highly doubt that Katie’s bingo alias is her real name. Maybe Jordon224, perhaps?

Author’s Bio: The following article was a guest post by Craig Crossland who is the owner of the Love to Play Bingo, a bingo comparison site that does not just compare bingo sites but is the informational portal for confused bingo players.

Occasions for Wearing Pearl Jewellery
By Guest Post
Prior to the most romantic holiday of all times – the Valentine’s day, we continue featuring jewelry related articles. Here is a guest post about the several occasions when wearing pearls would be the best choice. Enjoy! ~ Rich Girl
It is fair to say that pearls are one of the most luxurious and sought after forms of jewellery but they are not suitable for every occasion. There are certain social situations, however, that are tailored made for pearl necklaces or earrings and if you’re looking to add a touch of luxury to an outfit, pearl jewellery is the best way of achieving it.
Below are some of the main scenarios where pearl jewellery is likely to be the perfect accessory for your outfit:
Weddings – There is no occasion where pearl jewellery is more fitting than that of a wedding, particularly a winter wedding. Pearl earrings or a striking necklace are the perfect accompaniment to any wedding dress and will elevate your wedding outfit to a whole new level. There are many different types of pearls available, of course, but when it comes to complimenting a wedding dress, styles such as Akoya and Tahitian pearls are one of the best choices. Take a look at a stunning Tahitian pearl necklace below:

Cocktail Parties – There are invariably occasions where you want to make your mark and look a million dollars and pearl jewellery is the perfect way of doing this. When attending an upscale cocktail party, you will need to match your choice of jewellery with your outfit and this is why pearls are such an ideal solution as pearl earrings and necklaces can be used to compliment almost any elegant outfit. Once you’ve found a cocktail dress that is to your liking, your attention must turn to the jewellery that you are going to wear to accompany it – how about some of the examples below, which include one of the most stunning pearl necklace:

Job Interview – Needless to say, you need to make a positive first impression when attending a job interview and nothing exudes more elegance and sophistication than the pearl jewellery and, for this reason, it is the perfect accessory to wear to that important job interview. As the old saying goes, “you don’t get a second chance to make a first impression” and you won’t need any second chances if you turn up to your interview wearing a stylish pearl bracelet or an understated and sophisticated pearl necklace. The pearls below are ideal for attending a job interview:

If you have occasion coming up where you truly want to stand out from the crowd for your grace and sophistication, you are certainly unlikely to go too far wrong by choosing pearl necklaces, earrings or bracelets to accessorize your chosen outfit. Whether you opt for South Sea pearls, Tahitian, Akoya or Freshwater pearls, you know that you are wearing a piece of jewelry that is timeless as it is elegant and which is perfect for all upmarket occasions in your life.
Matching your Pearl Jewelry
It goes without saying that most women will want to wear a number of different types of jewellery with their outfit and when it comes to pearls, there is jewelry that doesn’t compliment pearls. For example, if you wear pearl necklace, you may wish to accessorize it with a pair of diamond earrings and this is a look which will add significant level of sophistication to your outfit, but avoid mixing it with cheap plastic accessories. Providing that the jewellery that you’re wearing (whether it be pearls, gold, silver or diamonds) are all of a similar quality and style, there is no reason that different jewels can’t be worn together successfully. But make sure you don’t over do it. If in doubt, only wear one piece of jewelry at any one time. Keep it simple, and follow the rule of elegance – less is more.
If you’re thinking that you really want to stand out from the crowd with your choice of pearl jewelry, it may be worth thinking about pink, gold or even black pearls – these unusual and unique forms of jewellery are the perfect choice for any occasion and will bring your outfit to life with their elegant shimmer and understated grace. Take a look at a breathtaking black pearl necklace below:

7 Most Expensive Diamonds in the World
By Guest Post
Valentine’s day is fast approaching and what a girl wants to receive as a present on this special day?! Of course fancy jewelry! And since diamonds are girls best friends, here is a guest post about some of the most expensive diamonds in the world. Enjoy! ~ Rich Girl
We know that some of you probably can’t afford even a fraction of the diamonds we’re going to show you today, even on a diamond ring. But those diamonds are so large, so beautiful and so expensive that they have inflamed the imagination of even the richest and most powerful people on this planet (living AND dead). Curious to see some of the most expensive precious stones in the world? Read on!
1 – The Moussaieff Red Diamond
This diamond, albeit rather small (5.11 carats) is estimated at 7 million dollars (not that much, you’ll see!), because of its unique color (Fancy Red) and intricate cut (trilliant cut). The Moussaieff is the largest Fancy Red diamond in the world and is owned by Moussaieff Jewellers Ltd., which is renowned for multi-million dollar pieces of jewelry.

2 – The Hope Diamond
The Hope Diamond, worth 350 million dollars and weighing 45.52 carats, is the inspiration behind the “Heart of the Ocean” diamond in the blockbuster movie “Titanic”. Some people believe it’s cursed; some old rumors (actually spread in the early 20th century) have the diamond stolen from a Sita statue in India, making the owner cursed. Kings of France and England as well as sultans have owned the diamond. And now the “most famous diamond in the world” is in display at the Smithsonian Museum in Washington, DC. It is definitely must-see item in this museum.

3 – The Steinmetz Pink Diamond
This beautiful pink 59.60-carat diamond is the only diamond ever to be classified as “Fancy Vivid Pink” in color. It is currently worth around 25 million dollars and is the largest known pink diamond in the world. Pink diamonds are extremely rare and usually found in much smaller sizes. It took the Steinmetz Group 20 months to cautiously cut it, because it is so extraordinary, one wrong move and the priceless diamond would have shattered.

4 – The Cullinan Diamond
Worth 400 million dollars, the Cullinan diamond or “The Star of Africa” is the biggest gem-quality diamond ever found and the 2nd largest cut diamond in the world. At 3,106.75 carats (or 621.35 grams, almost a kilogram!) in the rough, the diamond was perfect to cut and polish into an impressive 530.2-carat tear-shaped diamond. The gem is on display of Crown Jewels in the Tower of London, United Kingdom.

5 – The Heart of Eternity Diamond
The story of the Hope Diamond might have inspired the story of Titanic, but its shape is based on the Heart of Eternity diamond, valued at 16 million dollars and weighing 27.64 carats. What makes it so unique is its deep, vivid blue color, unmatched by any other major blue diamonds. The Steinmetz group cut it into a heart shape before selling it to the De Beers group.

6 – The Sancy Diamond
The Sancy diamond, still inestimable (and therefore priceless) is part of the French Crown Jewel collection hosted at the Louvre museum. The cut of this diamond is unique: it is made of a pair of crowns and has no pavilion. The pale yellow color might be considered an imperfection, but its symmetrical cut is quite intriguing.
7 – The Koh-i-Noor
We couldn’t discuss famous expensive diamonds without mentioning the Koh-i-Noor. This diamond also remains inestimable; it is still part of the British Crown Jewels (actually set in the crown of the Queen Mother Elizabeth). It used to be the biggest known diamond in the world, but several cuts and re-cuts have made it smaller – 105 carats.
Imagine receiving one of these diamonds along with your Valentine’s Day flowers! Wouldn’t that be amazing? Oh, you’d also need a really strong vault to keep it protected from the thieves.

Enter the World of High Fasion with Vivienne Westwood Watches
By Rich Girl
Ladies timepieces need to make a statement and help you to stand out from the crowd and this is exactly what you’ll be getting when you invest in Vivienne Westwood watches. The immensely striking British fashion and jewellery designer has entered the world of ladies luxury watches with some considerable style and her latest collection is certain to cause a splash in the fashion circles.
If you’re interested in understated and run of the mill ladies watches, then the Vivienne Westwood collection isn’t for you – they are definitely more up the street of those fashionistas who want to really turn heads with their choice of clothing and luxury fashion accessories. Regardless of what types of colours and styles that you favour when it comes to the timepiece that you wear, you find something within the extensive Vivienne Westwood collection that more than fits the bill.

Ladies watches are, of course, a matter of personal preference and whilst many will adore Vivienne Westwood watches, there will, of course, be those who prefer their watches to be a little less showy. For these individual, it is probably a good idea to consider other luxury brands such as Gucci, Chanel and Tissot watches. Personally speaking, I find it difficult to dislike anything about Vivienne Westwood watches as all the designs are so unique and striking and quite unlike anything else on the luxury ladies watches market.

In terms of ladies fashion, you know you’ve made it when your work makes it onto the silver screen – and Vivienne Westwood clothing featured regularly throughout the HBO television series Sex and the City. Her collection of luxury watches follows on closely from how she designs her clothing and the styles are incredibly eclectic and easy on the eye. There are so many different varieties to choose from with Vivienne Westwood watches that you will be spoiled for choice for sure. It is definitely one of the most unique and stylish brands available today within the field of luxury timepieces and I for one am certain that it will remain this way for some considerable time to come.
This post is written by James, who is a fashion and luxury watches aficionado, who enjoys writing about the latest watches and jewellery to hit the marketplace. He is a big fan of Vivienne Westwood watches and keeps a keen eye on all the latest timepieces from this luxury designer.

Cosmetic Dentistry For Celebrities And Us
By Rich Girl
All the well-known celebs are having different things done to their teeth so that they have bright, straight smiles when they are seen out in public. But that doesn’t mean you can’t achieve the very same look and show your pals the ‘Hollywood smile’. This article looks at many of the cosmetic dental treatments that are available to anyone with the funds to afford them. Cosmetic dental treatments can range from whitening and straightening teeth to veneers and crowns. For a major repair it can extend to dental implants and bridges.
Tooth whitening
Tooth whitening does carry some risks, such as an increase in tooth sensitivity, irritation of gums, and mismatched teeth. Teeth whitening can be inexpensive or it can be very expensive. It all depends on which procedure is chosen to be done. This is a simple way to get the glistening look of the celebrities, with Simon Cowell often sending contestants on The X Factor to get their teeth whitened. Does that help with their singing voices?
Veneers
Veneers can help to correct crowded and crooked teeth but if a tooth has actually been lost due to a medical condition or accident, a dental implant may be needed. Veneers are used when teeth are only slightly damaged or weakened. This is mainly to enhance appearances of the tooth. Treatment requires the removal of some natural tooth, which cannot be returned. This can also be an expensive procedure, depending on how many teeth require treatment. Who’s had it? Rich girl, Hilary Duff for a start.

Bonding
And to cover cracks and chips most everyone has dentistry bonding done. There probably isn’t a celebrity who hasn’t had this procedure. It’s simple and really effective.
Crowns
A crown is used when the tooth is in bad shape and there isn’t enough of it left to fill. They are also used with teeth that have had a root canal and become weakened. The major drawback to this procedure is that the majority of the tooth is removed before the crown is placed. There are risks to having crowns done. There may be an allergy to the anaesthetic or the material the crown is made from. This procedure doesn’t have to be that expensive.

Dental implants
Dental implants are surgically placed when the root of the tooth is unable to be saved. The implant is fused with the patient’s own bone. There are risks with this procedure also. Some implants fail to be accepted by the patients’ body. And there is the added risk if there is an abscess. The dentist must clear it all out or it may be pushed into the jaw and cause worst problems. This procedure can be fairly expensive.
Dentists are now marketing many of these treatments as a means to achieve the ‘Hollywood Look’. If you have the funds and you want to have that look of glitz and glamour, there is no way no how that you should leave your smile to fend for itself.
This is a guest post written by Richard from the dentistry guide website, an informational resource where you can learn more about the above treatments. He is on Twitter at @thefreshhealth.

Explore Lace as a Quirky Cocktail Dress Option
By Rich Girl
My current fashion obsession is lace. I can’t get enough, and luckily for me, it’s everywhere right now, and like a greedy little chubby kid in a candy store I’m lapping up as much as I can, but have yet to go for full, lace cocktail dresses, worrying that fancy lace meant fancy price tags. I was recently invited to a fun charity ball and wanted something that wouldn’t look out of place at a Bruce Wayne party, so naturally I went online to find one of the more unusual cocktail dresses to make a splash at the event!
Naturally, the first batch of lacy cocktail dresses to greet me were vintage. Lace was predominant in the dresses of the early 16th century onwards, so there are thousands of divine vintage lace pieces on the net. I adore vintage, and fell in love with the first one I clapped eyes on, but unfortunately this was very vintage, very coveted and therefore very out of my price range! But don’t worry – vintage doesn’t have to mean expensive – I stumbled across many a website offering gorgeous dresses for cut-prices, and managed to bag one for just $15! I steered clear of white or ivory purely because A. I didn’t want to look like a little lost bride and B. My penchant for red wine plus my clumsiness equals fiasco!

Whenever you need to look for a fancy little cocktail number, take my advice: Cocktail dresses don’t need to come in the form of the LBD, go for a bit of a risk like lace and you’ll definitely thank me for it!

The Best Gifts to Give a Busy Woman
By Rich Girl
Most women today run busy lives, trying to balance work, a family and some sort of social life. If they are lucky they may even get some time to themselves. When it comes to buying a gift for such a woman often the best thing you can give them is something to help make their life easier, like paying a cleaner to come in every fortnight and do the housework, or even just have the carpet cleaning done. Often the busy woman runs out of time to go shopping, even for essentials, so you might want to give her a gift basket filled with all her usual skincare and bath products.
Gift Basket
If she doesn’t have much time to get to the shops or she needs a gentle hint that she needs to slow down and spend some time on herself, then a gift basket can be a great idea for a gift. A gift basket can contain whatever you want it to and you can buy them already made up, so you can choose one to suit your budget and it will get delivered directly to her. Choose a basket with filled with things to encourage her to pamper herself, like skincare products, candles, massage oil, a relaxing CD and bath products.
Gift Hamper
Perhaps she doesn’t get much time to spend in the supermarket, other than just to whiz in and buy the essentials. It is also highly unlikely that she can take the time to browse in delicatessens or food specialty stores. Buy her a gift hamper filled with delicious treats that she never has the time to buy herself.
Cleaner
She might work from home or she could head into the office each day after dropping the kids off at school or childcare. The only time left to do any housework would be the weekend, but that’s not a great way to spend her much needed time off. Give her back some free time to spend with her family by giving her the gift of a cleaner who can come in every fortnight, or even just once a month, to do things like the bathrooms, clean the showers, vacuum, do the windows and wash the floors.
Babysitter
Hiring a babysitter is a great gift idea for the busy woman, particularly if she has very young children who can be demanding on your time. Give her the day off to do as she pleases without having to drag the kids around. She can spend the day shopping for clothes, getting a hair cut or a facial, going to visit friends or going out to lunch.
Day Spa
To help her slow down, spend time on herself and just relax give her a voucher for treatments at a day spa. Either spend her for a full day of pampering or let her choose from things like a massage, a facial, a manicure or pedicure or other beauty treatment.
Gift Voucher to Shop Online
There are many great online stores that sell all sorts of things like clothes, jewellery, accessories and gift ware. Buy her voucher so that she can shop online, something that is great for the busy woman.

6 Fashion Trends to Expect in 2012
By Rich Girl
Even though 2011 isn’t officially over yet, fashion moguls and trendsetters are already preparing for the fashion trends that are slated to become dominant and popular in the spring and summer of 2012.
If you like to stay on top of the latest fashion trends, or even if you’re hoping to update your wardrobe just in time to ring in the New Year, here are six fashion trends to prepare for in 2012:
1. Floral Prints
Flower patterned clothing has become quite the trend over the past couple of years, but you should still expect to see the presence of floral prints for many months (or years) to come. Not just limited to floral print patterns, many top designers are choosing bold graphic prints and layering different pieces of clothing together to combine them with various prints and create a bold and fresh fashion statement.
2. White, Monotone and Tan
This summer we witnessed a “white/tan is the new black” sort of movement, and 2012 is no exception. Be prepared to see a lot of white and “safari-style” clothing in the summer months, or even clothes with a combination of white and black throughout the rest of next year.
3. Vintage Clothing
Given the current state of the economy, more and more fashion trendsetters are looking to vintage and recycled clothing to help create a fresh new trend for the upcoming months.
4. Reds
Fashion lovers are already taking note that numerous different styles and pieces that are slated for the upcoming 2012 fashion shows seem to have a lot of fresh and strong reddish colors like poppy, geranium or even clothes with orange tones. (As a matter of fact, a lot of top designers are choosing red as their primary color of choice).
5. Oversized Jewellery
Oversized gem rings, necklaces and bracelets are expected to dominate the fashionable accessories movement for the upcoming year, so if you’re going to go on an accessory shopping trip, try to find accessories that have bold colors and try to mix and match them with different tones of red, black and white.
6. Plaid
Mimicking the grunge trend back in the mid-1990s, plaid clothing is expected to make a triumphant return next year, specifically in the late winter and early spring seasons. Be on the lookout for tartan and plaid articles of clothing, as well as plaid accessories, skirts, coats and trousers.

The Most Luxurious Residential Cruise Liners in the World
By Rich Girl
Filed under Guest Posts, Rich Photos
There are those who have money, and those who are just filthy rich. The former may have a grand house in the best ‘burb, but the latter will always manage to see you and raise you one. For them suburbia is so last season. Living a life of luxury, forever sailing the ocean blue aboard a residential cruise liner is their latest ‘must-have’ sensation.
There are only a few in the world, some currently sailing, some still in the planning stages, but they do exist. Sailing perpetually from port to port, residential cruise liners offer a totally different lifestyle, if somewhat ridiculously opulent. But then, if you could afford to, you’d probably be tempted to join this elite way of living, too.
Here we present five residential cruise ships that offer a whole new perspective on floating real estate.
MS the World

Photo Source 1; Photo Source 2
Since 2002, the largest residential cruise liner The World has been sailing the high seas, with an average of 150 passengers each trip – although the ship can carry many more. In all, there are 165 residences on board the 195 meter floating home, with accommodations ranging from studio apartments to three bedroom suites. All are privately owned, although the owners may not live aboard all year round, and collectively the passengers own The World. Not a bad piece of real estate, if you can afford it!
Every two to three years the ship circumnavigates the globe following a specific itinerary set out by the residents, who have chosen to live this extraordinary existence day in, day out. The itinerary includes one-off experiences and rare expeditions in the ports and countries they choose to stop at through the year. And life on board isn’t half bad, either. There are a number of restaurants, catering to different tastes, movie theaters and other entertainment venues, a supermarket, deli, shopping mall with top of the range boutiques, a casino, gym, and several other athletic venues. There are even Balinese style day beds on deck in which to relax if it all gets too much.
The Magellan

Photo Source 1; Photo Source 2
The Magellan, once completed, will be a full third larger than The World, making it one of the biggest luxury liners on the water. CEO Randall Jackson envisioned the need for a luxurious residential ship while on a cruise through the Straits of Magellan with his family, and his imagination has run wild. Not only will the Magellan have the usual amenities available on ocean-going liners, there will also be an observatory, two putting greens, a retractable marina, a heliport and microbrewery. And when finished, the ship will measure 244 meters long, 32 meters wide, and feature 15 decks.
Though residences will start at $1.8 million and go up to $8 million for full ownership, once built, the Magellan offers people the unique opportunity to take time-share residences for a few weeks to a month for as little at $140k. We’ll have to wait a while longer though as building will only start when 60 percent of the units have sold.
Utopia

Photo Source 1; Photo Source 2
Due for completion in 2014, Utopia has 190 luxury homes available, each with their own ocean view and ever-changing horizon. Prices range from as little as $4 million to $25 million for a permanent residence, though Utopia will also have around 206-room luxury hotel on board for those who just want a taster of life on the ocean waves. It’s also one of the few ships to allow residents’ pets on board – although there are limitations to size – and offers a private residents’ club. Amenities include casino, day spa, restaurants, multiple lounges, a sports lounge, putting greens, golf simulators, an outdoor cinema and a rock climbing wall.
What is most appealing about Utopia is the proposed itinerary. Formulated to take in some of the biggest events in the world; from Venice Biennale to Wimbledon, Cannes Film Festival to Rio Carnival, time spent traveling on Utopia would surely be fun, fun, fun… if a little exhausting.
Freedom Ship

The Freedom Ship is a unique concept in at-sea living; rather than being a single ship, it was intended to be an entire floating city, created atop a series of barges. And instead of being a permanent cruise with pit stops around the world, the Freedom Ship was to provide people with a place to live, work, play and shop, while sailing perpetually, carrying workers and residents as they go about their daily lives. The ultimate community at sea.
The concept was to include an on board library, schools, a first-class hospital and a large fleet of hydrofoils and commuter aircraft to ferry passengers to and from shore. However, construction has yet to begin, although, seemingly, the technology to build it exists. It might just be a dream too big. If completed, The Freedom Ship will be almost 1400 meters long, 230 meters wide and just over 100 meters high – four times longer than the Queen Mary. That is one big ship.
The Four Seasons

The Four Seasons residential cruise ship offers 112 permanent residences on 13 decks, starting at just $825,000 for a tiny studio up to the princely sum of $39 million for the more exquisite suites. Every resident will be credited $12,000 a year for food, drink and spa services, but that’s not all. The 220 meter-long ship also offers butler and guest suites for residents to purchase for the exclusive use of their guests and hired help, on top of the usual amenities you would expect on a luxury liner. Salons, saunas, spas; coffee bars, restaurants, wine bars and fitness centers are all available. A round-the-clock concierge service will allow passengers to have their on-shore activities arranged for them, and the ship’s marina will allow dive trips and shuttles to shore as and when guests need them.
Initial plans for The Four Seasons liner were to follow a two-year fixed itinerary, which was to take in stops at Antarctica, the Amazon and the 2012 Olympics in London, but considering 2012 is fast approaching and no ship building in sight, no doubt new plans will be afoot, which is always exciting.
